Charlevoix, Michigan Hosts the LaSalle-Griffon Project
Charlevoix the Beautiful, a quaint and popular nautical town in Northwest Michigan, has offered to host the LaSalle-Griffon Project. The Identification Team – 1679’s mission is to identify the wreck and determine if the vessel is the fabled Le Griffon.
City leaders will provide dock space for archaeologists and scientists to conduct operations. Planned events will be scheduled throughout the expedition to promote the project and heighten awareness for Michigan's Maritime Heritage.
To identify the wreck, Great Lakes Exploration Group and Michigan’s non-profit Center for Maritime & Underwater Resource Management (CMURM) are looking for corporate sponsorships, donations and endorsements to help support this important expedition.
If you would like to donate or sponsor the project, please download and fill out the Sponsorship Form and fax back to 989-834-0112.
